Denver Zoo Lights is a beloved, multi-generational holiday tradition that transforms more than 80 acres of zoo grounds into a glittering wonderland. Each winter, over 3 million energy‑efficient LED lights illuminate life‑sized animal sculptures—from elephants and giraffes to penguins and polar bears—in themed zones like “Arctic Adventure” and “Savanna Glow”. The experience is enhanced by interactive installations, nightly entertainment such as ice‑carving, festive fire barrels, and seasonal treats including hot cocoa and spiced cider. Timed evening entry helps manage crowds, and there are special-themed nights like Adult Nights and a sensory-friendly New Year’s Eve event designed for guests with sensory processing needs. Visitors are encouraged to dress warmly, as Denver’s winter air is frosty, and to snap photos at vibrant display backdrops. Whether you’re strolling through glowing trees or marveling at lit animal figures, Zoo Lights offers a magical blend of festive charm, wildlife wonder, and family-friendly fun—while also supporting the zoo’s conservation efforts.

Luminova Holidays at Elitch Gardens transforms downtown Denver into a breathtaking winter wonderland, with over four million twinkling lights illuminating more than 300,000 sq ft of larger-than-life displays. Visitors can stroll through a 300‑foot candy cane tunnel, marvel at a 65‑foot Christmas tree and a towering snowman who never melts, enjoy giant presents and ornaments, and hop on festive light swings and hopscotch. The experience also includes seasonal rides—from the Ferris Wheel to the Carousel—and interactive attractions like glowing games and photo‑ready lightbackdrops. Santa and his elves are on hand through December 23 for children to share holiday wishes, complemented by festive snacks, hot cocoa, and beverages for both kids and adults. Open most evenings November 29–December 31, Luminova is free with an Elitch Gardens season pass or available via ticket, making it a must‑see Mile High holiday tradition unlike anything else in Colorado.

Christmas in Color, a drive-through light display synchronized to music, will be at Water World and Red Rocks this holiday season. The Red Rocks location is a new addition, replacing the display at Bandimere Speedway. Both locations will feature over a million LED lights, tunnels, and other holiday-themed displays. The Red Rocks location will also feature one of the world’s longest light tunnels. 

Consistently lauded as one of the top holiday light shows in the nation, Blossoms of Light is a spectacular celebration that illuminates our York Street location. Wander a mile-long path through immersive, luminous displays that accentuate and highlight our plant collections. A cherished holiday tradition for nearly four decades, Blossoms of Light is constantly evolving to inspire wonder and delight in even the most seasoned visitors.

The Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center in Aurora, Colorado, is hosting several holiday events, including “ICE!” and “Cirque: Spirit of Christmas”. Other activities typically include snow tubing, gingerbread decorating, and photos with Santa. The “ICE!” setup changes each year and is announced as we get closer to the holidays. “Cirque: Spirit of Christmas” is a Broadway-style musical with circus artistry. 

All Santa visits take place indoors within The Great Hall of Union Station. Food and drink are available for purchase throughout the building, and restrooms, including family restrooms, are located in the North Wing. If you need access to a family restroom, please notify a nearby security guard. Santa’s helpers will take photos using your personal phone or camera, so be sure to have it ready. All visits are free and offered on a first-come, first-served basis by waiting in line. Please note that Santa visits end promptly at 4:00 PM, so plan your visit accordingly.
